Baigneuse dans la palmeraie (detail)
Alphonse-Étienne Dinet (1861-1929) (Nasreddine) was a French engraver and orientalist painter. His paintings are very conservative. They are highly mimetic and indeed ethnographic. He was very influenced by the Arab culture and his understanding of Arab culture and language sets him apart from other oriental artists. He loved the desert culture and employed the use of photography for painting.
