What’s particularly intriguing about La couronne de fleurs II, though, is that in 1950 the artist chose to rework it - I ‘II ’ in the title.
The composition stayed broadly the same.
The major change was the addition of a gossamer-thin veil, fixed beneath the wreath, which drapes delicately down the woman’s face. To make room for it, the artist removed a fan she was originally holding in her left hand.

Tamara de Lempicka (1898-1980) was a Polish painter who spent her working life in France and the United States. She is best known for her polished Art Deco portraits of aristocrats and the wealthy, and for her highly stylized paintings of female figure.
